One year when I was young, all I wanted for Christmas was a drum.
My mom said, “Only boys play the drums.” My argument was that Karen Carpenter of The Carpenters played the drums. My mom refused to budge on her belief, which sent me to the street to play football with the boys, “I’ll show her!” was my battle cry.
Finally she relented and Christmas was a wondrous thing as I banged upon my new snare drum throughout the house.
It was a short-lived victory as later that night; my younger brother poked a hole in it, stating that he “wanted to see what was inside of it.”
I often wonder how my life would have been different if my brother wasn’t so inquisitive. My life has been based around playing the guitar since the age of 15.
In hindsight, I think that I am grateful for that moment in time. Sometimes the things that happen in life seem the worse are actually blessings.
Take gentle care of you and your dreams.
Happy Holidays
Much Love Always, #girlwithguitar
He’s such a good brother! If it wasn’t for his curious mind, you wouldn’t have realized your true passion.
