My Cat And Her Country ~ a short poem by Katrina Curtiss 5/4/2020

My cat came to me, lulled into a fog
Asking if she was a cat or she was a dog
It was such a strange question to hear
I picked her up and held her near

She said that she was feeling quite confused
Day after day, endless stay at home news
Not knowing the days of each passing week
Not finding the right words when she wanted to speak

I googled the symptoms of Self Isolation
What’s affecting my cat and much of the nation
Loneliness, Depression, inability to sleep
Anxiety over earning one’s keep

So, as the sun rose, we listened to the birds
Just me and my cat, without saying a word
Silent prayers as the country reopens its doors
For everyone’s safety, Basura’s, mine and yours

Today’s Musing: “Can we stay home and wait to see what happens next?” ~ Question by Basura, owner of me #girlwithguitar
