Oh The Things That You Will Hear (A Short Poem) by kcurtiss

Oh the things that you will hear
When no one else around is near

The singing of birds in a tree
The buzzing of a Bumblebee

The distant call of a passing train
The rhythm of the falling rain

The far off sounds of trucks nearby
The airplanes flying in the sky

The ringing of someone’s telephone
The echo of your voice alone

The click of dog’s nail on the tile floor
The closing of your neighbor’s door

Where these sounds here all along?
Or are they here because something’s wrong

Did you hear them once before
Hiding behind your bedroom door?

These sounds have always been with us
But louder now because the virus

Oh how the familiar sounds went away
When The World Stopped, Kneeled and Prayed
