My Cat came to me and said, “What the heck?
On the day our taxes are due we get a stimulus check?”
She said, “it’s money enough to do what we please,
a dollar for everyone of my fleas!”

“Our President is good, he’s wise and he’s kind
Now give me that stimulus check of mine!”
I replied, “It’s from the government, not the president
And I’m not giving you a penny, not one red cent”

We should thank him with letters and postcard and faxes
I told her, “no this is back, part of what we pay on our taxes
We pay every year, ya know it’s the law”
as she tried to grab my check with her paw

“But it says his name here, on the bottom of the check
I think you are wrong; it’s his money he sent”
“Basura”, I said, “No you don’t understand”
This is from our government, not just one man”

As she shopped on Amazon, she meowed, “I think it’s a lot
enough to put sardines and chicken in my pot”
“Yes” I sighed, “true that, you are correct”
As she started to plan how our money would be spent
