It’s Hard ~”What My Grandma Would Say” ~ a short poem by Katrina Curtiss 6/26/2020
It’s hard not to talk about things that matter
It’s hard not to watch TV, eat and get fatter
It’s hard not to engage and voice your rage
As we wait for the world to turn the next page.
It’s hard to know which way to follow
It’s hard to know what is real, what is hallow
It’s hard when leaders don’t seem to know
That common sense is the best way to go.
It’s hard to be open and then close again
It’s hard not to spend time with all of our friends
It’s hard to watch people lose all that they’ve got
Fewer of those who have, more of those who have not.
It’s hard to be sitting home all alone,
With only a voice on the telephone
It’s hard not to hug, those in your heart
It’s hard to watch things being torn all apart.
I’ll share with you something my Grandma would say
That helps me get through to another day
“Do the best you can, that’s all we can ask”
Today is the present, forgive the past.

Your grandma is very wise!
