Not Everyone ~ a short poem by Katrina Curtiss 6/7/2020

Not Everyone of every group ever does everything
Not every sound of every prayer results in anything
Not every sunrise promises us a brand new day
Not Everyone agrees with what Everyone has to say

A push from both sides, cannot conflict result
Nothing is heard when both sides’ scream and shout
Not everything from the past is something that can be erased
Not Everyone can look Everyone directly in the face

Not every mention of the past, can be said while standing proud
Secrets lie in whispers, carried though the crowd
Not every action taken, can be taken back
Not everything you read or hear is factually a fact

Everyone can hold Everyone’s ancestors at bay
But not Everyone can erase what they had to say
Not every voice is right that echoes into the night
But every life matters, black, red yellow, brown and white
