It’s A Whole New Ball Game ~ by Katrina Curtiss 7/13/2020

Texas, where I hang my hat, is a cesspool of COVID~19 ~ Here in San Antonio, today our risk level is Severe-Critical.

When they reopened our city, they did it too fast, they “Politicians” promised that we would go in phases, pending a flatline or a decrease in the number of cases. The reality; cases increased and “they” kept moving us into the next phase. Personally, it made me inconsolable, an idiot would know better! But this has turned into Governors following our President, who refuses to wear a mask, insists on opening our schools and keeps promising that this will “magically” disappear. To say I’m disappointed in my country, it’s lack of leadership, is truly an understatement.

My only mission right now, is to not get sick…that’s it pretty much, pay my bills, feed my cat and not get sick. So when a stomach
bug knocked me off my feet, I was like…ut oh.

The Difference between getting sick “THEN” and “NOW.”

I caught a stomach bug, or maybe it was something I ate, spent yesterday in bed.
Today feel better, but I can share that getting sick now is a whole new ball game.

Here is my comparison between getting sick before Covid-19 came to visit and now

THEN:
Sofia: “You don’t look very good”
Me: “I don’t feel very good”
Sofia: “Is there anything I can do for you?”
Me: “No, I’m going to bed to ride it out.”
Sofia: “Okay, let me know if there is anything I can do.”

NOW:
Sofia: “You don’t look very good!”
Me: “I don’t feel very good”
Sofia: “Do you have a sore throat?”
Me: “No”
Sofia: “You have trouble breathing?”
Me: “No”
Sofia: “Fever?”
Me: “No, it’s just my stomach and a headache”
Sofia: “You haven’t been anywhere or around anybody…”
Me: “Yes, I know…I think it’s something I ate”
Sofia: “But you always eat the same thing…”
Me: “Yeah, I know, I gotta go lie down”
(This was a revolving conversation throughout the day)

I could see the intense concern in her face, thinking…what if?
I could feel the concern in my mind, pondering…what if?

It’s a new, very disturbing reality, when we use to get the flu, we just road it out, stayed home, liquids, etc.

Now it’s a whole new ball game. Stay healthy, stay connected, stay positive,
Much love,
Your friend, #girlwithguitar
