But Then I Smiled ~ Thanksgiving Reflections ~ Katrina Curtiss 11/26/2020

I got a little sad when I heard the neighbors having a small get together on their patio, it reminded me of Thanksgivings gone past. But then I smiled at their sound of laugher and children playing, am joyously jealous.

I got a little sad when buying a small turkey, it’s just 3 of us this year, Sofia, Basura Cat and me, and I don’t even eat turkey. But then I smiled at the ability to put food upon my table, am extremely thankful and blessed.

I got a little sad when I called my brother in Arizona, checking in on him, wishing we were together. But then I smiled because all is well in his life, he still has his job and the kids are thriving, am extremely thankful.

I got a little sad when my oldest friend (87) asked me not to stop by to drop off a Thanksgiving care package, due to the high number of COVID19 cases. But then I smiled because; he is a lovely friend, part of my family and he’s healthy, am extremely thankful.

I got a little sad when I got up this morning at 4am to put the turkey in; traditionally I cook it slowly, waking up later to a house with familiar childhood smells. But then I smiled because if I put the small bird in now, it will be done by 9am ~ Turkey and eggs for breakfast, am extremely rethinking this.

I got a little sad when I drove around the neighborhood today to make sure my car still runs, I felt like a dog going for a drive. But then I smiled because, I felt like a dog going for a drive, am extremely social distancing.

I got a little sad today, thinking about the empty tables and chair around the country today, but then I smiled because personally, no one I know has lost someone, I ask the Universe to keep it so and to help those affected, am extremely concerned.

Life is all about perspective.

We can get lost in worry, anxiety and in fear, or we can get lost in hope, faith and love. It’s our choice, a flip of the coin, can’t really have both at the same time.

So upon this day, let’s flip our “coins” ~ if we can, and yes we can! Choose to look upon this day, coloring it with our favorite crayons, let’s use our favorite colors.

As I count my blessings, I’m thinking of you counting yours.
Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving, brighter days are coming when we can get together again ~ they are, ya just gotta believe.

Much Love always, Your friends, #girlwithguitar and Basura Cat
