Election Day 2020

Early Election Day Reflections ~ a short poem by Katrina Curtiss 11/3/2020

They’re boarding up buildings, buying guns and TP
The most disturbing Presidential Election in History.

COVID~19 is getting worse and worse
As paychecks are smaller, not filling the purse.

People are exhausted, fatigued and worn
Feeling the very fabric of our country is torn.

People on the outside are shaking their heads
Worried that we are not safe while asleep in our beds.

They lied about the Virus, are they lying about more?
As we hang by a thread, wondering what else is in store.

Each side thinks they’re right; they’ve made up their mind
Voting for one that is mean, or one that is kind.

Which one would you have for dinner, invite into your house
Leave alone with your kids, your pet or your spouse?

Some think that not voting cannot do much harm
They covered their ears, and cannot hear the alarm.

This is our calling, to rise up and stand
To do for our country the best that we can.

So today, as we wait, let us be of great cheer
It’s almost over, change is finally here.

Stay safe,
Much Love Always, #girlwithguitar
