The Dysfunction Family Thanksgiving Dinner ~ Katrina Curtiss 11/22/2020

I wrote this back in September, in the midst of the Political storm ~ wasn’t going to post it, but I like the picture. Stay safe, wear your mask, celebrate safely, you matter!

The shopping was done with grace and great care,
Making sure there was enough for everyone there.
The house was cleaned, not once but twice,
The children were told to be good, quiet and nice.

First to arrive was pretty Aunt Nancy,
She was prim and proper and always dressed fancy.
Every hair was in place, her voice loud, then quiet,
She nibbled on a carrot, always on a diet.

Next in the door was loud Uncle Don,
A man who never, ever did anything wrong.
He boasts and brags, and he brags and he boasts
And in-between his stories, he always eats the most

Then through the door came nice Uncle Joe,
Who loved to hug you, when he said hello.
He was soft spoken and would listen with care,
And Uncle Don would yell, “Hey what are you doing over there?”

Then a fight would begin, with everyone taking a side,
As cousin Kamala with potato salad, would finally arrive.
And nosey neighbor Pence, would show his face,
Saying, “I can hear your fighting over at my place!”

And the children would watch silently at the dysfunctional circus,
Thinking, “They are worse than the very worse among us!”
The children, didn’t say a thing, they just watched and learned,
As no one noticed the Thanksgiving Turkey as it burned.
