Basura Cat thinks that it’s kind of mean,
That cats are not getting the Covid Vaccine.
She wants to get back to life like it was before,
When we had lots of friends walk through the door.

I tried to explain that she was never at risk,
But she just curses and shakes her little paw fist.
She runs around with her tail in the air,
Meowing, “People don’t care, it’s so very unfair!”

“We’ve been stuck inside for 9 months and more,
I’m tired of walking the same old floor.”
“If I get the Vaccine, then I can go and play,
No longer in doors will I have to stay.”

“Basura,” I said as she continued to complain
“You’re worse than a dark cloud full of rain.”
“Professional people are first in line
They’ve been out there fighting this whole time.”

Suddenly my cat began to understand,
About the heroes we have upon our land.
The men and women who fought the good fight,
That they deserve our thanks, both day and night.
