My Cat And The Night The Internet Went Out ~ a short poem by Katrina Curtiss 5/3/2020

Oh how my cat did start to pout
When suddenly our Internet went out
What no Hulu, no Netflix to see?
Oh miserable, miserable, miserable me!

She was not happy when I suggested a game
Instead she insisted I call and complain
To a prerecorded voice, that left me no choice
Than to leave my complaint with an automated voice

“I want to watch, Ozark, Shark Tank and Shameless
Not wander around the house with you, feeling aimless
I want to sit mindless in front of the TV for hours
And watch cooking shows with cakes made of flowers”

Well. I sighed as I sat down to write
“It seems you’re in for a miserable night
Like when I was young and had to find things to do
I’m sorry that life is so hard for you”

So she sat by herself, far away from me
Mindlessly staring at a blank TV
Then the Internet came back on and the world turned right
As she binge watched her favorite shows the rest of the night
