My Curious Cat ~ a short poem by Katrina Curtiss 5/2/2020

As some business’ open across the land
My cat simply cannot understand
What’s different today, than in the past?
Wondering why is everything opening so fast?

We can go to the movies and not do our hair
Does the virus only go here and not there?
What’s this new, news about alien ships in our skies?
Are they trying to divert what we see with our eyes?

As the world reopens, is the virus gone?
Is staying at home terribly wrong?
If a business only allows a few people in their door
Will they make money; will it keep them from being poor?

My world is small, there’s a lot I don’t understand
How much everyone is hurting all across the land
Everyone has a choice to do what they must
and then it’s trust them, everything that they touch

I feel like we’re stranded on an island of our house
Where nothing is stirring, not even a mouse
So for now, I guess we’ll wait and see
If those who go out, come back in healthy
