In the picture, you see my neighbors, the man in the chair is Ray, he works for H.E.B.
He leaves home before sunrise every workday, if I’m on the front porch with my coffee, he shouts a resounding, “Hello!”
I’m always wondering if he’ll wake the neighbors, he doesn’t seem concerned. I wish him a safe day and off he goes.
He loves his cars, his hats, his family, he’s a great guy.
This is the fence between our yards where we pass back and forth BBQ and shared meals.
It’s his Birth Day today, I asked him what he wanted, he said, “Write me a song and play it for me.”
So I did, what an honor to be asked, Sofia played the Cajon, we gave the kids percussion instruments to play along with.
The chorus of the song, which everyone had to participate in was…I would sing “WHO?” and they would sing “RAY!” ~ so Hurray for Ray!
Blessed to have people like this in our lives, blessed with health and a roof over our heads and hope in our hearts.
Ray has a large family, due to only 10 people suggested per event, he split his family into two days, half on Friday, the other half on Saturday. He refused to serve leftovers to his family on the 2nd day, so he cooked both days, upon each day, he shared his BBQ with us ~ we sang his special song both days.
