Random Thoughts ~ 3am, a chilly 44 degrees in San Antonio, Texas. ~ Katrina Curtiss 12/9/2020

A friend quit her teaching job, stating that her school is basically telling its employees to continue going to work, despite the spike in Covid 19 cases. She has underlying health issues, what are her choices? Continue working as more and more students test positive, as more of her co-workers test positive, as classrooms empty due to quarantine, she is suppose to “carry on.”

A friend called after the daily Covid-19 update, his voice is heavy. He lives alone and says, “It’s getting worse, please take care of yourself.” We chat; he is doing his best to stay positive. He is almost 90 years old and says, “If I get it, I will most likely not survive.”

A friend is facing a different health issue; cancer has knocked upon his door. It’s maddening to witness. Wishing to visit, knowing not to, it’s maddening.

Another student canceled their music lesson, “exposed to someone who just tested positive.” As I once again start to count my pennies, I am grateful for their honesty and concern for my health.

A President cares more about counting and recounting his votes, than staying true to his oath of protecting the constitution, the people, his people, you and me. I find it infuriating that bar owners, and other businesses are fighting to stay open to save their livelihoods, when millions are being spent on recounting the votes.

I Can’t Imagine ~ Katrina Curtiss 12/9/2020

I can’t imagine being a teacher being faced with going into a classroom in the midst of a deadly pandemic

I can’t imagine being a parent being faced with sending my child into a classroom during a deadly pandemic.

I can’t imagine being a worker, getting paid minimum wage being faced with having to work during a deadly pandemic.

I can’t imagine being a health care professional, treating the sick, during a deadly pandemic

I can’t imagine being a bar owner, trying to keep my business alive, during a deadly pandemic

I can’t imagine having a president who was too cowardly to tell us the truth about the pandemic, during a deadly pandemic

I can’t imagine people saying there is no pandemic, during a deadly pandemic.

I can’t imagine a country that has bailed out so many corporations over the years, not bailing out its citizens during a deadly pandemic.

I can’t imagine people gathering out of boredom, during a deadly pandemic.

I can’t imagine the anger felt by those who have lost someone, towards those who say “it hardly affects anyone” during a deadly pandemic.

I can’t imagine the millions of dollars spent by the outgoing president on recounting the votes, when millions are going without the essentials during a deadly pandemic.

I can’t imagine not being incredibly disappointed by how divided our country is during one of the greatest crisis of our time, during a deadly pandemic.

I can’t imagine having to chose between my health or my paycheck during a deadly pandemic.

I can’t imagine not having my small circle of friends and Basura Cat, during a deadly pandemic.

Stay safe and healthy,

Much love always, #girlwithguitar
