A Magic Box sat in the room
A couple on either side
Both given the chance to open it up
They struggled as they tried to decide.
The gift inside was to go back in time
To a place when time had begun
To change their lives from being part of two
To being of only one.
One couple gazed into each other’s eyes
As they held their aging hands
Not wishing to return to a time
Before they were pronounced woman and man.
The other couple jumped at the chance
Their love was held no more
They opened the box and without a word
They walked out of separate doors.
