Basura Wants To Write A Hit Song

My Cat Tries To Write A Hit Song ~ a short poem by Katrina Curtiss 5/5/2020

I was sitting staring up at a tree
When Basura Cat came up to me
She wanted to join my Songwriting group
A poet, maker of magic, a troubadour troop

I want to write something that people will sing
I want to write about nothing and yet everything
She had so many ideas’ they flew through the air
She danced on her words, like Fred Astaire

So together we wrote a chorus, then a verse
She tried to rhyme, she tried not to curse
She wanted to Rap, she wanted to Scat
It was a one cat show, as a matter of fact

The she tried to sing along with Celine Dion
She tried to line dance and write a country song
She tried Opera, The Blues, even Jazz made the list
She tried Hip Hop and shook her tiny paw fist

She was so stubborn, would not listen to me
So I went back to staring up at a tree
She finished the lyrics, only singing was left
And that’s when we realized, cats are tone-deaf

Today’s Musing: “Singing is a matter of opinion” ~ Quote by Basura, owner of me #girlwithguitar
