The fence we chose to have and divide
Is based upon beliefs, our morals and pride
The fence can reach way high up to the sky
We can’t see each other; no matter how hard we try.
The fence can be brick, thick and strong
Blocking out opinions both right and wrong
The fence can be old and made out of wood
Letting in some of the bad, some of the good.
The fence can be chain-link so everything gets through
It lets you see me, it lets me see you
Or maybe there is no fence at all
Imagine a world without any fences or walls.
If you invite me over to your side to play
It’s a chance for me to hear what you say
Let’s throw open the gate and try something new
I’ll bet we both learn a thing or two.
