My Cat And Hurricane Laura ~ a short poem by Katrina Curtiss 8/26/2020

The Adventures Of Basura Continue…

Basura cat wanted to know
Why into town all these people did blow
It’s Hurricane Laura hitting the south Texas Coast
People ran here, they need safety the most.

It’s hitting tonight, under the light of the moon
Strong winds and high water will make land soon
So they grabbed what they could to run to high ground
That’s why there are so many people around.

It says that it could be a catastrophic mess
I like the word cat, I like it the best!
Are they wearing masks, we’ve all tried so hard
To slow down the virus, by inches and yards.

I sadly looked at Basura cat and shook my head
I don’t know what they packed, if they planned ahead
But things are much better, now than before
There seems to be enough food for everyone at the store.

Basura sighed and went off to play
But instead grabbed my hand and we started to pray
“Dear Father in heaven, please hear our plea
And protect everyone, including you and me.”

Today’s Musing: “How can something with the word “cat” in it be bad?” ~ quote by Basura ~ owner of me #girlwithguitar

Hey Basura, it has nothing to do with cats. I’m glad you said a prayer and to your prayer I say Amen!???
