My Squirrels, My Tree, Basura And Me ~ a short poem by Katrina Curtiss 9/8/2020

Everyday, two Squirrels play tag in my tree
It’s better than anything to be found on TV
They race and they jump from limb to limb
One is a Her and one is a Him.

Their chase goes round and round
From the top of the tree to the brown of the ground
They stand on their hind legs and fluff their tails
Their claws scrape my tree like tap-dancing nails.

They run in circles flipping here and there
Never a worry, never a care
I wish I could be a squirrel and join in the fun
Round and around, my tiny legs would run.

But for now, it’s on two legs I’ll stay
Chasing my dreams each and every day
Enjoying the beauty of my tree
My guitar, Basura Cat, the squirrels and me.

Today’s Musing: “What the….? Why so exciting about a stupid squirrel?” ~ quote by Basura Cat, owner of me #girlwithguitar
