My Cat Rants About Racism ~ a short poem by Katrina Curtiss 5/9/202

My cat came to me, filled with misery
About the injustices of humanity
A former police officer and his son, both white
Chased an African-American man down and took his life

Two armed white men, father and son
Hunted down a black man, who was out for a run
The runner unarmed, was shot 3 times
Is there any question that this is a crime?

Why did it take so long for an arrest?
This can’t be our legal system at it’s best
There’s injustice because the color of your skin?
How can that be? It’s mortal a sin

Cats can have any color of fur at all
We’re all equal, thin, fat, short or tall
We wear our different colors with pride
A different color, shouldn’t make you run and hide

Red, yellow, black, white and tan
Skin tone doesn’t define the worth of a man
I think that the world would be more kind
If all of you humans were color blind

Today’s Musing: “My heart hurts for the innocence and loss of Ahmaud Arbery, I wish I had known him” ~ Quote by Basura, owner of me #girlwithguitar
