The Moon, Me And My Cat

My Cat Wants To Live On The Moon ~ a short poem by Katrina Curtiss 5/6/2020

My cat wants to go and live on the moon
She told me that she’s leaving here soon
I told her that up there, that there is no air
She insisted she’s going, she just doesn’t care

She’s building a spaceship made of odds and ends
She sending good-bye cards to all of her friends
She’s packing her bags and making her plans
To blast into space, of leaving this land

I told her that up there, there’s not much to do
She said, “It’s kind of like living with you
I’ve bought a space suit, with a helmet to breathe
I’m ready, I’m ready, I’m ready to leave!”

She jumped into her spaceship made from a box
With blastoff tubes, made out of my socks
The countdown began, as we held our breath
When we got to zero, she still hadn’t left

“Curses!” she said as she climbed of her space machine
“I wanted to live somewhere without COVID-19”
So we sat down to breakfast, the sun rose in the sky
My cat was so sad that she started to cry

To help her feel happy about her failed space machine
I said, “Hey maybe, you’ve built a super submarine!
Let’s take it to the tub, it just may work yet”
To which she replied, Cat’s don’t like to get wet

Today’s Musing: “When man first went to the moon, my mother made a bet with me that it was made out of cheese, she never paid up” ~ Quote by Katrina Curtiss #girlwithguitar
