My Cat’s Face Froze Like That ~ a short poem by Katrina Curtiss 5/21/2020

Basura likes to make many a funny face
She does it in Church, any old place
I said, “If you don’t stop, your face will freeze”
She made even more, she’s such a cat tease.

So it came as no surprise
When her face froze in front of my eyes
With her tongue stuck out into the air
She cried, “Now, I cannot go anywhere!”

“I warned you, that your face would freeze like that”
I said to my obnoxious, disobedient cat
She cried, “Oh now what will I do?”
As she hiccupped and let out a loud achoo!

I said, I have an idea that simply won’t fail
You can lick closed the letters I put in the mail
“Letters?” she asked, “That doesn’t sound like fun”
“I don’t think that I’ve ever gotten one.”

So I took out a bill and gave it to her
And as I did, she started to purr
Just then her face started to unfreeze
And now she can go out and do as she please.
