Basura cat saw me step on the scale and cry
“Oh, my!” she exclaimed, “That’s so very high!”
I sighed and stepped back off of the scale
As she jumped on with a swish of her tail
“Tell me how much do I weigh,
Tell me now, tell me now, do as I say!”
The dial jumped to 10 then back to 8
She is a tiny cat, for goodness sakes
“Ha Ha!” she laughed as she fell to the floor
“You outweigh me by 200 pounds, maybe even more
I know I’m right, because your pants are too tight
That why you wear your PJs’ both day and night”
“Basura,” I said, “Your math is wrong
I’m not as wide, as I am long
Yes, it’s true I’ve put on a few since COVID-19
But that does give you the right to be mean.”
“What Ho!” she cried as she ran from my lap
“Give me a minute and I’ll be right back”
I heard her rummaging through the drawers
Until she found the chocolate, I’d hid to make S’mores
My clever cat had caught me red handed
Especially after she saw where the scale needle landed
And now I can no longer defend
That since “Stay At Home” Chocolate has become my fast friend.

Tip for chocolate lovers on a budget — In the supermarket baking section you’ll find an assortment of bags of chocolate “chips.” One-third the cost per ounce of any chocolate in the candy section, and just as good if not better. My favorite is Nestle’s Toll House Dark Chocolate Morsels. Why eat all the carbs in a chocolate chip cookie? Skip the cookie and go right to the chip!
I read this recently: “When the quarantine started I vowed to use the time to lose 10 pounds. As of today, only 15 to go!”
